Fukuoka police re-arrested a 46-year-old former vehicle inspector on October 30 for allegedly taking a ¥30,000 bribe to illegally pass a vintage sports car inspection. The suspect, Tatsuo Ueno of Minami Ward, had already been indicted for a similar offense last year while serving as a designated “quasi-public official.” Investigators said the owners of classic cars, often difficult to certify under standard inspections, used mechanics to arrange the illegal approvals. Three mechanics were also referred to prosecutors for giving the bribes, and all four suspects reportedly admitted the charges. Source: KBC
