Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries announced a ban on exporting seeds and Amaou strawberries’ seedlings. The Fukuoka-native brand strawberry is amongst 1,975 fruits and vegetables that are now legally protected for domestic production. The move aims to secure their value in the international market and to support domestic agriculture. A penalty of up to ¥10 million will be charged to those who intentionally violate the rules.
