The Fukuoka-based startup, Mekiki Co., Ltd. developed an application to spot knock-off Louis Vuitton items. The app can authenticate branded bags, wallets, and other small items, using an AI that examines multiple aspects, including logos, sizes of motives, and their balance. A Beijing-based company with approximately 6,000 pawnshop clients, Soudang, has partnered with Mekiki and will start distributing the application in September 2019. Mekiki plans to develop new systems to authenticate products of Gucci, Chanel, Hermes, and more. Source: PR Times, 7/1/2019
