The first meeting of the Goto Islands Fan Club was held in Nagasaki City on the 13th with the objective of revitalizing the 1,400 chain of small islands in Nagasaki Prefecture and preserving its environment. Residents are concerned about the declining population, which is also aging rapidly. The group was founded by five islanders with the backing of a prefecture association for small- and medium-sized businesses.
