Finnair’s First Fukuoka – Helsinki Departure Announced

Finnair has announced the first departure dates for its new Fukuoka-Helsinki route. The first flight from Helsinki to Fukuoka will depart on May. 7 (arriving in Fukuoka on May 8), and the first from Fukuoka to Helsinki will depart on May 8. It will be the only direct, non-stop flight connecting Kyushu to Europe. Fukuoka is one of Western Japan’s most important commercial cities and has good transport links to Kyushu’s other prefectures, so Finnair expects 14,000 travellers to use this new route within the first five months. Initially, flights will only operate in the summer season (May ~ Oct. 2016), but the airline hopes to expand to a year-round service. For more information, read our previous report.

Editor’s note: Fukuoka Now will celebrate the opening of this new route with a lucky draw for two return tickets (Fukuoka – Helsinki) at our Valentine’s Party on Feb. 12. Everyone is welcome! Details here.
