First COVID-19 Fatality In Fukuoka

Fukuoka City announced the first death of a COVID-19 patient in the Kyushu on April 3. Mayor Soichiro Takashima explained at a press conference that the woman in her nineties tested positive on the day before (April 2) after one of her elderly daycare group members became infected with the disease. A total of 19 more confirmed infections were reported in the prefecture on the same day. Reflecting upon the quick spread of the disease, Governor of Fukuoka, Hiroshi Ogawa, firmly asked all residents to avoid visiting urban centers, and especially bars and nightclubs with guest services on weekdays (and weekends.) The total number of COVID-19 infections in Fukuoka Prefecture is now 119. Source: NHK & Mainichi
