First Kyushu-based J League Team in Emperor’s Cup 

Oita Trinita, the professional soccer team based in Oita Prefecture, made it to the final of the Emperor’s Cup as the first Kyushu-based J League team. On Dec. 12, the team defeated Kawasaki Frontale in a penalty shootout at 4-5. While Trinita will be relegated from the J1 league to the J2 league next season, the team remains enthusiastic about winning the first victory of the tournament. Source: Nikkan Sports / Oita Press
