Fishing of the tiny Shirouo or Icy Goby, began Feb 18 in Muromi River, Fukuoka. The Shirouo Union announced the first haul of 300 fish, was three times that of last year’s. Fishing for Shirouo will continue until the beginning of April. The fish are about 5cm in length and have transparent bodies. It is popular to eat the tiny fish alive and the dancing sensation felt in in the mouth is known as ‘odorigui’. The Shirouo is found in Japan, Korea and China. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun Feb. 19
