The mayors of Omura, Isahaya, Unzen, Shimabara, and Minamishimabara in Nagasaki Prefecture have agreed to hold regular summit meetings with the objective of merging the five cities. They also plan to invite citizens to those meetings to provide their input. The five discussed the idea at a roundtable discussion meeting on strengthening ties in central Nagasaki Prefecture sponsored by the Nishinippon Shimbun.
