Former Space World Site to Host City’s Science Museum

Kitakyushu City announced on Feb. 25 plans to move the city’s science museum to a new shopping complex that will be constructed by 2021 on the former Space World site by Aeon. The city’s current museum opened in 1960 and building’s age has become a concern. Plans for the new museum includes the construction of a planetarium that can be enjoyed by both children and adults. The target number of visitors per year will be five times the current one hundred thousand. The city will include the project budget of ¥68 million to the revised budget plan, aiming to open the new facility in 2022. Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 2/25/2019
