Fuel Cell Bus Service Trial in Fukuoka Prefecture

Fuel cell (FC) buses are currently being tested out in Fukuoka Prefecture. The fuel cell vehicles, which were released by Toyota in February of this year, run on hydrogen and do not emit carbon dioxide or other harmful substances that cause air pollution. In the event of a disaster, one vehicle can supply electricity to an evacuation center the size of a gymnasium for about five days. A special ceremony was held last week outside the Fukuoka Prefectural Offices to mark the start of the scheme. A test ride was held in the local vicinity after the ceremony, giving many people the chance to ride one of these new buses. The trial operation will run in Fukuoka City and Kitakyushu City until October 8. Source: RKB News, 9/29/2017
