Aiming to create a new local brand of “sand-free” clams in Fukuoka, a full-cycle clam aquaculture trial was launched inside an intermediary breeding facility located at the Shikanoshima Fishing Port. The Fukuoka Fisheries Cooperative was commissioned by City Hall to run the project, which aims to be mass producing full-cycle cultured clams within five years.
