Fukuoka Airport International Terminal Expansion and Renovation to Begin

Fukuoka International Airport Corporation, the operator of Fukuoka Airport, has announced that it will begin construction soon on an expansion and renovation of the international passenger terminal building. The company aims to increase its capacity to 16 million passengers per year. According to Fukuoka International Airport, the total project cost for the expansion and renovation will be about 50 billion yen. The departure security checkpoint will have more inspection lanes to shorten transit time, and the duty-free store area will be expanded by four times. The current Fukuoka Airport International Terminal Building was opened in 1999, and at that time, the number of passengers was about 2.5 million per year. The airport plans to complete a runway expansion by March 2025, and the operator hopes to finish the expansion and renovation work by the time the runway goes into service. Source: Aviation Wire
