Fukuoka and Kitakyushu Announce New Financial Assistance Packages

Fukuoka City announced its support program in the likelihood of implementing ‘mann-enn boushi juten sochi,’ the stricter business regulations set by the national government intended to defend the area from the effects of increasing new coronavirus infections. If such measures take effect in Fukuoka, businesses that are not eligible for other financial packages provided by the prefecture and the national government could receive up to ¥150,000 (¥100,000 for self-employment) if they suffer 30% or more reductions in sales. The city would also give a maximum of ¥100,000 aid to eateries that promote takeaway meals by special discounts and more. Customer shops, including restaurants, are eligible for up to ¥600,000 subsidies for installments of infection-free facilities and service systems. Up to ¥500,000 or 80% of anti-infection efforts at local shopping arcades would also be covered. Meanwhile, Kitakyushu City also announced a program to encourage teleworking. Local accommodation facilities which offer telework discounts would be eligible to receive a subsidy that worths 50% of the room prices (or up to ¥3,500) for their operations between May 10 ~ Jun. 30. It will be the third implementation of such a program in Kitakyushu City. Sources: Fukuoka City / Kitakyushu City
