Fukuoka Authorities Alert as COVID-19 Cases Spike

The Fukuoka Prefecture in Japan has reported a significant rise in new COVID-19 cases as per the weekly survey till July 23. The weekly average of infected individuals per medical institution has surged to its highest yet, at 18.69 persons, which is 1.45 times higher than the previous week. 

COVID-19 case counts have been recorded weekly in some medical institutions similar to influenza, following a shift to a new categorization system in May this year. The number of confirmed cases gathered from 198 healthcare facilities in Fukuoka Prefecture over the week from July 17 to July 23 totaled 3,700, an increase of 1,140 from the previous week.
