Fukuoka City Announces Budget Proposal Exceeding One Trillion Yen

Fukuoka City has announced a budget proposal for the next fiscal year that exceeds one trillion yen. The plan includes the exemption of childcare fees for second and subsequent children as part of its efforts to support child-rearing. The announcement was made by Mayor Takashima at a press conference on the 15th. Fukuoka City’s general account budget for the next fiscal year will total over 1.49 trillion yen, exceeding one trillion yen for the third consecutive year. To support child-rearing, the city will exempt childcare fees for second and subsequent children from April, without income restrictions or other requirements. In addition, the city plans to develop a pipeline to supply hydrogen for power generation as part of its efforts to achieve a carbon-free society, using the site of the former Hakozaki campus of Kyushu University for urban development.
