Fukuoka City Assembly Passes Accommodation Tax Legislation

The Fukuoka City Legislative Assembly has accepted a proposal to introduce an accommodation tax, which will see guests pay an additional charge for their stay at local hotels and ryokan. Fukuoka Prefecture has been looking at introducing a similar system since March earlier this year. The city submitted a memorandum outlining their plans to the prefecture on September 14 in a bid to avoid double taxation in this area. Source: Sankei Shimbun, 9/15/2018
