Helping You Set up or Expand a Business
Last November, the government opened an Employment Consultation Center, or ECC, inside Fukuoka City’s Startup Cafe (Tsutaya 3F, 1-20-17 Imaizumi, Chuo-ku). ECC staff include lawyers and other experts who can help new startups and foreign firms setting up shop in Japan understand Japan’s rules about labor management, contracts and so on. Individual consultations are free of charge, and support is also available in English, Chinese and Korean. Fukuoka Night Expo
The Fukuoka Night Expo, or Yoruhaku, will be held for the entire month of February and will feature food, music and light-up events. For details, pick up a leaflet from the Information Plaza on the 1st floor of City Hall or visit the Yoruhaku homepage (http://tenjinsite.jp/yoruhaku/).

Let’s Stop Drunk Driving
Fukuoka City and the 16 municipalities in the metro area will hit the streets for a campaign to eliminate drunk driving. The event will start at 15:00 on Feb. 12 in the Shintencho Clock Plaza. Meanwhile, the Mini Life Message Exhibition, an art exhibit honoring victims of drunk driving accidents, will be held at seven locations around the city including the 1st floor lobby of City Hall (2/17~22). Foster Care Forum
Fukuoka City and Kodomo NPO Center-Fukuoka will hold the Foster Care Forum to raise awareness of the foster care system. Michael Maher King, a doctoral candidate at Oxford University who is researching Japan’s foster care system, will give a keynote address in Japanese about foster care systems around the world and the current state of Japan’s system. Now Accepting Application for City-run Housing
Starting on Feb. 4, the Fukuoka City Housing Corporation will release application guidelines for available city-run housing and distribute application forms to the Information Corners the Ward Offices and the Information Plaza on the 1st floor of City Hall. If you are interested in applying, please send your application, postmarked no later than Feb. 13, to the Application Section of the Fukuoka City Housing Corporation (4-1 Tenyamachi, Hakata-ku, 812-0025). Asumin to Hold NPO/Volunteer Exchange Event
The Fukuoka NPO/Volunteer Exchange Center (Asumin) will hold the Good Activity Festival 2015 at City Hall from Feb 13~15 to spread the word about public interest activities. NPOs and volunteer organizations will exhibit their activities in booths. There will be stage performances and a range of hands-on activities for people of all ages.
