Fukuoka City has implemented new guidelines to refuse international cruise ships’ entrance due to the risks of passengers and crew spreading the new coronavirus spread. Fukuoka City Mayor, Soichiro Takashima, explained at a press conference on Aug. 18 that the new local rules will help the city avoid the disruption of the port operations at Hakata Port, while the national law system fails to block such visits by cruise ships. The city intends to lift the regulations once there is a coronavirus vaccine or effective treatment methods for the disease to become widely available. Source: NHK / Asahi / RKB
