Fukuoka City Increases School Lunch Budget By Nearly ¥500 Million

Fukuoka City has allocated an additional ¥493 million for school lunch costs in its supplementary budget, citing continued rises in food prices such as rice. The revised budget, totaling over ¥12.35 billion, also includes ¥3 million in subsidies for parents of about 100 children who bring their own lunches due to allergies, coinciding with the start of free school lunches from August 28. Additionally, ¥241 million is earmarked for road repair after recent heavy rain caused landslides on Shikanoshima. The proposal will be submitted to the city council on September 3. Source: NHK
