Fukuoka City Offers Residence and Office Rent Subsidies to Foreign Entrepreneurs

Details of a program offering subsidies of up to ¥70,000/month (for residences) and ¥50,000/month (for business offices) have been posted on Fukuoka City’s website. The subsidies last one year. Approximately five applicants will be approved. Eligibility for the subsidies is as follows: foreign entrepreneurs who will be, or are planning to, establish a business in Fukuoka City on and after January 1st, 2016 and meet all of the following requirements are eligible for the subsidy.

(1) Must acquire the “Business Manager” residential status. (Startup Visa holders also may submit an application for Startup Business Certification but must have renewed his/her residential status to “Business Manager” to apply for the subsidy.)
(2) Must be intending to operate a long-term business in Fukuoka City.
(3) Must reside in Fukuoka City.
(4) Must not have unpaid national or regional taxes.
