On January 10, Fukuoka City announced that it would expand the number of stations where credit cards can be used to pass through subway ticket gates from the current seven to 36 stations. The experiment will begin on March 27, when the Nanakuma Line extension opens, and continue until March 31, 2024. The number of brands that can accept touch-sensitive payments will increase to six. While increasing convenience, data will be collected continuously to verify the effectiveness. The experiment was scheduled to end on February 28 but will be extended to end of March, 2024. The new stations will be opened on the same day as the subway line extension. In addition to the current Visa card, six other brands will be accepted, including JCB, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, and UnionPay. Source: Fukuoka City Subway / Nikkei / KBC
