Fukuoka City to Seed App Programmers

On Sep. 8 Soichiro Takashima, Mayor of Fukuoka, announced a new business project that will support 50 talented young programmers in developing new applications for mobile devices. Hopeful applicants will be asked to submit business plans, and the top 50 will be recruited for the program. These young businessmen and women will be given the opportunity to attend practical workshops and seminars at Nomad cafe weekly for one year, starting this November. Twice annually, they will have the chance to make a presentation to appeal to investors in Tokyo. Companies supporting the venture include Movida Japan, who will provide approximately 5 million yen to cover the initial set up expenses, whilst Nomad will provide their cafes for business use throughout the project. Movida is owned by Taizo Son, the brother of Masayoshi Son (founder and current chief executive officer of Softbank). On the project, Mr. Taizo Son excitedly commented that “In Fukuoka City, where living costs are very reasonable and life is convenient, we want to nurture at least 100 new international companies.” Source: Nishinihon Shinbun 9/9 http://www.nishinippon.co.jp/nnp/item/323161Set Up Your Company In Fukuoka
