Fukuoka COVID-19 Update: 89 New Cases – False Negative Test Exposes Woman To Infected Patients

On August 4, Fukuoka Prefecture announced 89 additional cases of the novel coronavirus infection. Those cases include 45 instances in Fukuoka City, and 24 in Kitakyushu City. The cumulative total now stands at 2,356. (*two misreported cases on August 3 in Fukuoka have been deducted from the tally) On August 3, Fukuoka City reported that a resident in her twenties received an incorrect PCR result. After the woman tested negative to the virus, she traveled for some 20 minutes on a chartered microbus for coronavirus patients. Even though she and five other patients were seated at a distance to avoid close contacts, the city asked her to self-isolate until August 16. Additionally, the local pro-soccer team, Avispa Fukuoka, confirmed that its midfielder, Hiroyuki Mae has contracted the virus. Sources: NHK / Asahi / Avispa
