Fukuoka Drops out of First Place with Cruise Ships

The number of cruise ships calling on Hakata Port in 2019 dropped to 229, pushing Fukuoka out of first place in the number of cruise ship calls in Japan. According to an announcement by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the number dropped by fifty compared to 2018. While the nation as a whole saw a decrease of 2.2% this year, Naha Port in Okinawa, which now ranks number one, saw an increase of 7% with 260 cruises in 2019. Source: Nikkei 01/23/2020
