Fukuoka Prefecture launched a new accommodation subsidy program on July 7 for international visitors staying outside Fukuoka and Kitakyushu, marking its first direct lodging support initiative for inbound travelers. Visitors who book eligible accommodations through overseas travel reservation platforms can receive discounts equivalent to ¥3,000 per person per night in local currency, including consecutive stays. The program will run through February 2027 with a budget of ¥231 million and is expected to support 77,000 overnight stays. The initiative aims to spread inbound tourism beyond the prefecture’s two largest cities, where most foreign visitors currently stay.
