Fukuoka Fiasco: Stimulant Smuggling Stopped!

A Vietnamese woman has been arrested in Japan for allegedly smuggling stimulants worth approximately 73 million yen from the United Kingdom. The suspect, a company employee living in Jounan Ward, Fukuoka City, denies the allegations, claiming she was unaware the package contained illegal drugs. According to the police, on March 18th, she allegedly had 1.1 kilograms of stimulants, valued at 73 million yen at street prices, shipped to her home using international courier services for commercial purposes. The drugs were hidden inside bags, which were placed within four coffee makers packed in a cardboard box. The package was discovered at Kansai International Airport, and the police replaced the contents and tracked the shipment to apprehend the woman at her home as she received the coffee makers. She reportedly told investigators that she had been asked by someone she met on social media to receive the package, which she believed only contained coffee makers. Authorities have been intensifying crackdowns and awareness campaigns on drug smuggling, as cases have increased since the easing of COVID-19 border measures. Source: NHK
