Fukuoka Firm Trains Truck Drivers in Cambodia

Minami Holdings, a driving school operator based in Onojo, Fukuoka Prefecture, has launched a program in Cambodia to (train) truck drivers for employment with Japanese transport companies. The firm established a driving school with a Japanese-style training course where participants study Japan’s traffic rules and driving techniques before coming to Japan. The initiative is designed to help address Japan’s shortage of truck drivers while creating a new revenue stream as domestic demand for driving school services declines. Minami Holdings aims to supply 4,000 drivers over the next five years through the program. Source: Foreign Driver Support Organization / Nikkei
