Daimaru Bessou, an inn in the Futsukaichi Onsen area of Chikushino City, has received improvement orders from the prefecture for only changing its bath water twice a year, instead of the weekly requirement. The inn was also negligent in adding disinfecting chlorine. Last August, inspections revealed Legionella bacteria at twice the standard level, with subsequent re-examinations showing bacteria at levels up to 3,700 times the standard. The inn admitted to falsifying their explanations, and the president of the operating company apologized for their violation of regulations since at least 2019.
