Fukuoka Prefecture has established a LINE-based anonymous consultation service to address the rising use of cannabis among young people. Available 24/7, with expert responses on Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., the service supports those struggling with use, peer pressure, or concerns about others. Consultations are confidential, excluding reports on cultivation or sales.
The initiative comes ahead of new cannabis laws in December that criminalize use. In 2023, Fukuoka recorded a record 475 cannabis-related cases, 80% involving individuals under 30. Source: Fukuoka Prefecture / NHK
