Fukuoka Launches “YokaBus” for Inbound Tourists

Fukuoka Prefecture has started accepting reservations for the “YokaBus” tour, now targeting inbound tourists. This initiative aims to provide easier access to remote sightseeing spots that are difficult to reach via public transportation. The tour offers unique experiences, including local cuisine and hands-on cultural activities.

Since its launch, “YokaBus” has gained popularity, with over 17,000 domestic participants by the end of November 2024. Given the increasing demand for inbound tourism, the prefecture has introduced a multilingual service using translation tools in English, French, and other languages. Reservations are available through major international travel booking sites.

According to the prefecture, foreign tourist stays in Fukuoka between January and October 2024 were 1.5 times higher than in the same period in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic. Officials hope the “YokaBus” will encourage international visitors to explore areas beyond Fukuoka City and discover the wider charms of the prefecture. Source: Fukuoka Prefecture / YokaBus
