Fukuoka Marathon Announced

Yesterday a new, full 42.195 kilometre marathon “Fukuoka Marathon” was formally announced. The marathon will take place on Nov. 9, 2014. The Fukuoka Marathon replaces the old “City Marathon Fukuoka” which was a half-marathon. The new event has two courses – a full marathon from Tenjin to Itoshima (10,000 runner capacity, minimum age 18) and a shorter 5km course (2,000 runner capacity, 20 wheelchair capacity, middle school age and over). Both courses are open to anyone within the age limit. The time limit for the full marathon has been set at seven hours. Fukuoka City and Itoshima City will jointly open applications next March 2014. Participation fee for the full marathon is ¥10,000, and for the 5km course students aged up to middle school ¥2,000 and up to high school ¥3,000. More details to follow in the upcoming months.
