Fukuoka Marathon will begin accepting applications for its 2019 race on Nov. 10. According to the announcement by the Executive Committee on Mar. 7, the route of the full marathon will have 12,000 participants start from Tenjin and run to the goal in Itoshima City, while up to 2,000 children and 20 wheelchair users can take part in a shortened 5.2 km course. As in 2018, five hundred slots will be set aside specifically for runners who applied but missed out on securing a spot for three consecutive years. This year, each category will see a slight increase in the participation fee due to increased costs for safety operations. Organizers will accept applications between Apr. 15 to May 20, and the results of selection will be released on June 28. (Executive Committee: 092-711-4676)
