On the evening of Aug. 28, the mayor of Fukuoka City, Soichiro Takashima, responded to the news of the resignation of the current Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe. Referring to the fact that the city has recorded the highest tax incomes during the past seven years under Abe’s administration, Takashima acknowledged how the Prime Minister’s political achievements supported the growth of Fukuoka City in recent years. Implementation of the national strategic zones provided the city with the opportunity for the ‘Tenjin Big Bang’ project and created a nationally-important startup city initiative, resulting in a higher quality of life. Takashima also expressed his wish for PM Abe to have a good rest, commenting that his unceasing work to fight against the new coronavirus pandemic must have worn him out. Source: Mayor’s Blog
