Fukuoka Mayor Soichiro Takashima called on apartment management companies and property owners to pass sewer fee exemptions on to residents after reports that some landlords continued charging tenants despite receiving city exemptions. The city introduced a four-month waiver of household sewer charges using national subsidies aimed at easing the burden of rising living costs. However, in some apartment buildings where management companies pay utility fees collectively, tenants reportedly continued to be billed as usual even after the city waived the charges. Takashima said the subsidies were intended to benefit citizens directly and not serve as financial gains for property managers or owners. He urged building operators to ensure residents receive the intended relief measures. Source: NHK News / Fukuoka City Official Youtube (From 18:13)
