Fukuoka Native Rugby Player Named Fukuoka Gives Up Olympics

Kenki Fukuoka, a Fukuoka-native (Koga City) rugby player, decided to give up his chance to play in the postponed games for Tokyo Olympics and pursue his dream to become a medical doctor. The 27-year-old athlete, who made a significant contribution to the national team during the World Cup Games in 2019, originally planned to play in the 2020 Olympic Games and mark the final stage for his athlete life. The postponement of the games due to the new coronavirus spread forced him to step onto the next stage in his life. Sources: NHK / Mainichi
