Fukuoka Organization Takes Elder Care to China

Souseikai, a Fukuoka-based social welfare corporation that operates elder care facilities throughout Japan, will open a fee-based elder care home next year in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province in China, its first foray overseas. Going forward, Souseikai plans to open 30 facilities in China in a joint venture with a Chinese company. China’s population is aging rapidly, and expectations are high for Japanese social welfare corporations to bring their wealth of knowledge to the Chinese market. Souseikai has invested 30 million yuan (about ¥510 million) to purchase an old school and renovate it into a 250-270 bed facility that will open in June 2014. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 12/16
