Souseikai, a Fukuoka-based social welfare corporation that operates elder care facilities throughout Japan, will open a fee-based elder care home next year in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province in China, its first foray overseas. Going forward, Souseikai plans to open 30 facilities in China in a joint venture with a Chinese company. China’s population is aging rapidly, and expectations are high for Japanese social welfare corporations to bring their wealth of knowledge to the Chinese market.
