Fukuoka-style ‘ozoni’ soup dish topped a 2022 online ranking. While the traditional new year dish varies vastly by locality, ozoni as served in Hakata commonly features round mochi, a slice of yellowtail amberjack, katsuo-na (a locally grown green vegetable), and maybe more toppings. The mochi topped soup perfectly energizes and warms you up during the cold season. The ranking for the best ozoni was based on 2,212 online votings made between Dec. 17, 2021, ~ Jan. 8, 2022.
