Fukuoka Prefectural Governor Ogawa Admitted to Hospital

Fukuoka Prefectural Governor Hiroshi Ogawa was admitted to the hospital on August 29 to have a tumor removed from his liver. The governor will be hospitalized for approximately two weeks, but the treatment is scheduled to be completed quickly and it is expected to have a minimal impact on public service. The upcoming prefectural assembly is scheduled for September 11, which falls during the governor’s hospitalization. Reconstruction efforts in areas hit by July’s heavy rainfall will be discussed and a revised budget is set to be put forward. Matters that arise on these issues will be handled by Vice Governor Hattori. Source: Nikkei Shimbun, 8/25/2017
