Fukuoka Prefecture Amends Manuals to Cope with Possibility of Natural Disasters & COVID-19

Fukuoka Prefecture shared revised guidelines for their evacuation-shelter operation manual in preparation for the possibility of a natural disaster combined with circumstances involving the spread of COVID-19. Plans call for the avoidance of three “Cs” (closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings) as well as the use of additional accommodation facilities, including hotels and ryokan, to ensure adequate capacity. Also, in case a person develops a fever, efforts to provide individual accommodations will be made. Cities and towns are advised to revise their manuals in accordance with the new guidelines by the end of May. Sources: Fukuoka Prefecture / Yomiuri
