Fukuoka Prefecture has announced its plan to invest in Fukuoka International Airport, the new privatized airport management company that will go into operation next April, and put a Prefectural official on the board of directors. The aim of this public-private partnership is to make the airport one of the best in East Asia. The Prefecture plans to invest as part of the airport company consortium’s efforts to raise more capital; its stake will be limited to no more than 10% after the increased capital injection. The Prefecture has devised a strategy to boost the profile of Fukuoka’s airports in Asia in cooperation with Kitakyushu Airport, which can operate 24 hours a day. Source: fiba.jp
