Fukuoka Prefecture Launches Weekday Hotel Discount Campaign

Fukuoka Prefecture has launched a weekday accommodation discount campaign aimed at easing overcrowding in major cities and encouraging tourism in regional areas. The program offers discounts of up to ¥3,000 per person per night for weekday stays at more than 140 hotels and inns located outside Fukuoka City and Kitakyushu City. According to the prefecture, overnight stays in 2025 exceeded 24 million, driven largely by the recovery in foreign tourism, but around 70 percent of guests remained concentrated in the two largest cities. Under the campaign, the prefecture covers 20 percent of accommodation costs, with bookings available through direct payment or travel platforms such as Jalan and Rakuten Travel. Officials said the initiative, now in its third year, is expected to support approximately 160,000 overnight stays during the current fiscal year. Source: NHK News / Fukuoka Prefecture
