Fukuoka Prefecture plans to open a restaurant in Tokyo in the new building slated for completion this November on the site of the former Fukuoka Kaikan (in Kojimachi, Chiyoda-ku). Visitors will be able to sample dishes made from Fukuoka’s own specialty products, including Hakata beef and seafood from the waters around Fukuoka. The menu also features a dessert made from figs grown in Asakura, which suffered massive damage in last July’s torrential rains. The prefecture hopes the restaurant will pique people’s interest in Fukuoka while contributing to the recovery of disaster-stricken areas.
