Fukuoka Prefecture announced it will provide 600 million yen to a new advanced cancer treatment center under construction in Tosu, Saga Prefecture, to purchase medical equipment. The Saga Prefecture government had planned to solicit more than 80% of the 15 billion yen cost from companies and groups, but fund raising has been slowed by the effects of the Tohoku earthquake. Sixty percent of the construction has been completed on the center, which is expected to open in the spring of 2013.
