Fukuoka Prefecture announced its updated criteria to request the issuance of a pandemic-related state of emergency. If (1) the numbers of new infections for the past seven days have been on the rise, and (2) 730 or more patients develop moderate or severe symptoms, or such a situation is likely to happen soon enough, the prefecture would request application of SOE to the national government. Currently, in Fukuoka, an increasing number of patients are on oxygen support. The latest daily count (as of Feb. 8) stood at 4,812, and 1,741 of them are in Fukuoka City. The occupancy rate of allotted hospital beds reached 69.5% (as of Feb. 7.) Additionally, deaths of 14 patients in their 30s ~ 90s were reported. Source: Nikkei / Sankei / NHK
