A 52-year-old professor, Koji Sakai, from Fukuoka University of Education in Munakata City has been arrested on suspicion of violating the Stimulants Control Act. The arrest took place on October 22, after a tip-off led to a search of his home and a urine test confirmed the use of stimulants between October 12 and 22. The Narcotics Control Department of the Kyushu Regional Bureau of Health and Welfare conducted further searches on October 23, seizing his smartphone and investigating his university lab. The university, where Professor Sakai specializes in teaching calligraphy, has expressed deep concern and committed to cooperate fully with the investigation. The professor’s admission or denial of the allegations has not been disclosed. Source: NHK
