Prof. Tsuyoshi Arakawa of Kinki University in Iizuka City, Fukuoka, has developed radioactive cesium absorbing blocks to be used in the cleanup of the nuclear disaster in Fukushima. The concrete blocks contain zeolite which absorbs the unwanted radioactive cesium. The blocks can be placed in rivers to clean the water. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun Jan 7
