Fukuoka Propose Extending Startup Visa From Six to Twelve Months

At a meeting of national strategic special zones Fukuoka City proposed to extend the term for the “Startup Visa (Entrepreneurial Incentives for Foreigners)” from the current six months to a year. Fukuoka City introduced the Startup Visa as one of the strategic special zone initiatives to attract overseas entrepreneurs. Comparing to acquiring traditional “Business Manager” visa through the Immigration Bureau, the Startup Visa has fewer prerequisites for the foreign entrepreneurs who want to start a business in Japan. The proposition was made reflecting the feedback from those who used the system in Fukuoka. It has been said that funding a company and setting up an office within six months is quite demanding.
