Fukuoka Residents Get a Sneak Peek of Subway Extension

On March 27th, the Fukuoka City Subway Nanakuma Line will be extended to Hakata Station. A trial ride event was held on March 5th prior to the opening. The Nanakuma Line will extend approximately 1.4 kilometers from Tenjin-minami Station to Hakata Station. Over 2,900 people who applied in advance participated in the trial ride event. Participants first toured the newly completed Hakata Station and experienced the moving walkway installed in the transfer passage about 150 meters from the airport line. They then boarded the train and enjoyed the trial ride to Tenjin-minami Station, taking pictures of the new stations along the extended section such as Kushida-jinja-mae Station and testing the comfort of the seats.
