Fukuoka Starts Beach Water Tests

Fukuoka City began annual water quality inspections at five local beaches ahead of the summer swimming season. At Obaru Beach in Nishi Ward, city officials used boats to examine seawater transparency, oil residue, and E. coli levels in waters around one meter deep, where swimmers typically gather. The inspections are conducted to confirm environmental safety before beaches officially open. According to the city government, all five beaches received the highest rating in last year’s survey. This year’s results are expected to be released on the Fukuoka City Environment Bureau website in mid-June. Nokonoshima Beach in Nishi Ward is scheduled to become the city’s first beach to open for the season on June 15. Source: KBC News / TNC News
